Final Post: Ukraine Crisis

Interactive Picture - Click here
Over the course of 6 months since July 17, 2014, when Flight MH17 was shot down, Ukraine has fought over which side to take, the EU or Russia. Russia has personally taken action trying to get Ukraine on their side, but their actions have violated international laws setting an example that in reality, countries with more power can easily take another country if they wanted to. The unarmed commercial jet, MH17, was a significant turning point showing the audacity of Pro-Russian Ukrainians fighting towards Russia. Even to this day, December 5th, 2014 Russia is still trying to get Ukraine. Russia blatantly violates the ceasefire agreed two months ago in October, and recently agrees on the ‘Principles’ on the ceasefire on December 2nd,2014.

Researching the Ukraine Crisis was not much of a feat, but putting all the pieces together for a cohesive analysis was difficult. From all the researched gathered, the most significant events and turning points during the crisis were used as the meat of the blog. The surrounding information leading up to the event and after effect were used to garnish the info and to fine detail it. In depth detail was put into html-links and were able to clearly express the matter with every little finding. Working with a group helped eliminate bias and made extensive research quite easy. It helped broaden the topic and pin point all the information needed to analysis the Ukraine Crisis.

Throughout the research of the Ukraine Crisis, I learned an ample amount of why Ukraine is fighting towards either sides. It was difficult in the beginning to not choose side's because of Russia's actions. Researching more and more about the topic broadened how I looked at a subject. Looking at the topic in an unbiased view, I understood why Pro-Russians were for Russia and why Pro-EU were for EU. Media bias is very apparent when researching this topic, usually they are Pro-EU and think Russia is the single cause of destruction. Mining deeply into the subject washed away the bias look on the subject and gave detail into both sides. I have learned the value of a non bias stance gives in depth knowledge and working with a group helps clear the mind of any bias.
